3D printed ballet shoes?

This marvelous piece of design genius has been made to minimize the ballet dancers pain and the designer behind this is Hadar Neeman.

Seeing a ballet friends' battered and bruised feet she realised that 3D printing has a huge potential to improve the shoes worn by ballet dancers.

By digitally scanning the foot of the dancer she was able to create a detailed map of the shoe perfectly and individually modeled to the shape of the dancers foot. This shoe not only reduces the pain of the dancers but will also last three time longer than the usual 10 hours of dancing.

What a beautiful, creative and innovative piece of design!
